“I wanted to start by saying this is by far the most impressive race organization
I have seen at any event. For what it's worth, I have raced all over the world, at Ironmans
and local sprints and everything in between, and can say hands down Ian is the best in the biz. This
event will continue to grow as no other race format allows for the personal attention and teammate atmosphere
that Ian, his staff and the style of racing provides.” – Lars Finanger
These races are about strategy and favor relay teams and individuals who can work and race together the best, not necessarily the fittest athletes. Competitors race over a 1/10 Iron distance triathlon course (0.24 mile swim - 11.2 mile bike - 2.62 mile run), repeated for 8 or 24 hours. Athletes do not have to stay in swim - bike - run order after lap one. Teams and solos "bank" as many legs in each discipline as desired, keeping in mind that the ultimate goal is to complete the most swim-bike-run combinations.
Newton 24 & 8 Hours of Triathlon are inspirational challenges for first-time athletes and seasoned veterans. The event format fosters camaraderie and teamwork. Each relay team or solo has a "pit" crew who provides technical, nutritional and moral support. Racers and crew bond with each other by working towards a common goal and sharing in their success.
